School-Age and Early Learning Language Development

  • Speech sound disorders happen when an individual has trouble saying sounds the accurate way; like saying "wabbit" instead of "rabbit”. Or “tat” for “cat”.

Language disorders affect how an individual understands or uses words. Examples includes having difficulty following directions or putting sentences together.

Contact us if you are unsure or want more information on what a language disorder may look like.

  • Early Learning and Language Development - in younger children, first words should begin between 10 -14 months old and with at least 50 words by the time they are two years old. If your child is not speaking by two, contact us for more information and schedule an appointment for a speech and language evaluation.

  • School-age language development involves growing skills in vocabulary, grammar, and conversation. This allows children to understand and express more complex ideas. They also improve in reading comprehension and storytelling abilities. Sous-Dey Speech Therapy supports this growth by targeting specific language challenges to help kids communicate confidently and effectively by integrating books, crafts and games to keep children engaged in a natural setting.

Goals include strategies such as DTTC (Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing), Hanen Program, Cycles Approach and AAC.

Language

What does it look like with Sous-Dey Speech Therapy?

Natural Setting

We offer individual and group speech therapy. Practicing speech and language in natural settings, in home, school, or during play, helps kids use their skills in real-life situations, not just in the therapy room. It’s like learning to ride a bike on different roads instead of a controlled parking lot. The more real-life practice they get, the better they become at using their language skills wherever they go!

Social Outings

Social outing events with SousDey Speech Therapy are organized to help clients practice communication skills in real-life settings, such as parks, restaurants, or community centers! These events support social interactions, functional language use, and generalization of therapy goals in a fun and engaging environment. They also foster stronger relationships between clients, families, and therapists while promoting inclusion and confidence. Stay tune for our social outing events!
